Kay and Sons Woodworks is a family-owned business that has serviced the triangle area for more than forty years. Kay Sr. and Venica Hill, along with their twin sons Kay and Clay, manage the business. Originally established in 1969 as “Kay’s Custom Woodworks”, the shop incorporated and changed the name to “Kay & Sons Woodworks, Inc.” in 1973. They work with various woods such as cherry, maple, red oak, and alder to create the most original and beautiful cabinets around.
Located in Wake Forest, they offer high-end cabinets and custom sized cabinet doors built by employees dedicated to the craftsmanship that has earned them a reputation for being the best. QCCI and Kith Kitchens are the manufactured lines they provide. The vision for Kay and Son’s began with Kay Sr. Now in his 80’s, he continues to work everyday at the shop and has no plans to retire. Originally started as Kay’s Custom Woodworks he operated the business as a one man cabinet shop. Then when his twin sons joined the business the name was changed to Kay & Sons Woodworks. Kay Sr is passionate about mission work and enjoying life!
Vice President, Door and Manufactured Cabinets Manager
Clay began working in the shop as a young boy. After college, he returned to the shop to continue as a fifth generation cabinet maker. Clay has used technology, along with craftsmanship, to enable the shop to improve its quality and production. He manages the custom door department and is the design manager for manufactured cabinetry.

Kay started building cabinets as a kid back in the early 70’s. Over the years he has made improvements in how our custom cabinets have been designed and built. In the 80’s he started using the computer to design kitchens. Helping customers understand exactly what they’re getting makes for a good relationship.
President and Office Manager
Venica is a vital part of the shop. With her background in banking, she has efficiently managed the finances of the business. In the early days, she did the majority of the cabinet staining. She is also known as Quality Control!
